Perdue Grain & Oilseed, LLC purchases grain from farmers and dealers for further processing and merchandising to the company's feedmills as well as external customers. Each year, we handle approximately 250 million bushels of grain. That's enough to fill a train of railroad cars 850 miles long - more than the driving distance from Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida. |

Grain Merchandising
Supporting local farmers
Perdue realizes that the best way to maintain a steady supply of local grains and oilseed for our feed operations is to support the farmers in our communities. That's why Perdue has a long-standing "you-grow-it-and-we'll-buy it" policy that ensures farmers a local market for their grains.
Perdue buys grain from more than 5,500 farmers and dealers. Each year, we purchase approximately 250 million bushels of corn, soybeans, wheat, milo and barley.
We buy our corn in the Mid-Atlantic region and the Midwest. The majority of our soybeans and wheat come from the Mid-Atlantic region, but we also buy soybeans and wheat from some Midwestern states, including Ohio and Michigan. We purchase milo grown in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. We purchase barley from farmers in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and New Jersey.
